Start your first game
- Open the collection and select Metal Slug 1, 2, X, 3, 4 or 5.
- Choose Play Solo. The selected game downloads when you open it.
- Press the bottom A / FIRE button, labelled START at the title screen, or Enter to enter the original arcade game. Use A / FIRE to confirm a character when the game asks.
- Pause at any time to open Options & Controls, change sound, or return to the library.

There are six titles and 34 main missions in total. These are the original campaigns available here, not all games in the Metal Slug franchise. Branching routes are counted within their main mission. Release years refer to the original arcade versions; SNK’s series history documents those releases.
Move, jump, fire and use a Slug

Jump toward an available vehicle to enter it. Down plus jump, or the D / SLUG action, handles vehicle actions such as exiting. Hold a direction while firing to aim; available angles depend on the original weapon and vehicle. Grenades are an in-game resource, so a C / BOMB press does not create ammunition.
On desktop, Options & Controls offers Classic, WASD and Arrow-key presets plus individual key binding. Mouse controls use left click to fire and right click for grenades when the pointer is over gameplay. Rebinding a key changes the instructions shown on the homepage.
